hi my name is kendall and yesterday i was hit by a car while i was riding my bike and all i got to show for it was a lump on my shin. the man of steel will be signing autographs after the swelling goes down. reports show that the woman driving the '99 escort was "very sorry" she t-boned me as she turned onto 48th st. going to god knows what less important place than where i was headed (home). her husband came to the scene of the crime to inform me she was new to the country and she'd never had to deal with police and was "scared." to which i responded "well that sucks" and i told him i was also a little "scared" the millisecond i realized i was about to be hit by a motor vehicle. fortunately, there were some lovely witnesses who were happy to tell the cop i was moving at "excessive speed." if someone could tell me how moving with the traffic on forest hill avenue as best i could on my fixed gear constitutes excessive speed it would really help me modify my riding style as to avoid future incidents where excessive speed causes me to be hit by a car. also my speed might have saved my bones, as soon as i realized there was no avoiding impact i gunned it in attempts to evade her bumper but alas the fatal blow was dealt (fatal for my bike) to my frame just above the hub of my back wheel. had i been any slower the point of impact would surely have been the sweet spot of my left tibia and fibia. all and all i am very satisfied with the outcome, especially since i wasn't wearing a helmet. after all was said and done i had a paper saying i had to call insurance companies and appear in court, it blows my mind the work i have to do because i was hit my a car. and then i walked home because i didn't have my phone to call someone for a ride.

ps. my bike is totaled and i'm broke so until the aggressor hits me with something i could use, like a fat check, i'll be walking (with a slight limp).

design for the new foundation wood shop logo. jesse and i worked many laboring hours on the photoshop. he taught me about stroking. i'm pretty into stroking. the gradients and nails were all jesse and if i hadn't been there it would have been covered in pinstripes, along with my entire computer. the plan is for all the workers to get matching coveralls (dickies sleeveless jump suits, aaron calls them speedsuits) and screen the logo on the back so we can be the most bad-ass wood shop technicians north of the Mason Dixon.

there is also a contour but it doesn't hold up as well. ohh and jesse found the oh so necessary font that looks like planks of wood. thanks jesse!

i try and figure out how to do cool things on photoshop. rarely do i find success but i always find something. this time i decided to call on those "colorist" and "fauvist" assignments from lcd. i think this proves once and for all that i didn't learn anything in that class.

so now i am in richmond. i am now surrounded by 4 very excited ten-year-olds eating more sugar all gathered together for one 11 year olds birthday. they are even spending the night how exciting.

last night i fully forgot my name and spent a lot money and a lot of time lying on my kitchen floor writhing around. although many parts of last night were akin to the feeling of beating your head against a brick wall, it was one of the greatest evenings of the semester. i wish i could remember it better. also… remind me not to go into manhattan with my entire paycheck in cash burning a hole in my back pocket.

going to flo-rida for spring break. camping on the beach. hells yeah.

i love photoshop. food photography is crazy. they do some nuts shit to food to made it look tasty. Trengove Studios sells props and other accessories for making food look good. they sell one fake average sized ice cube for $35. they also sell fake slush and fake acrylic "pours" and "slashes" that have to be custom ordered according to the shoot. pretty wild.

yeah i did it. yeah i just made the fully sober 2am journey to the fast food monster we know and love crown fried chicken . one might not be aware, but wonderful crownfried locations can be found in DC, maryland, new jersey, pennsylvania, rhode island, tennessee?? and of course new york (there are now 19 locations in new york alone). of course its a thursday morning just after 2 so the grill is off which means no sandwiches, this usually throws me away from my standard "number one" or the occasional "italian cheeseburger," but not tonight, i was there with a different resolution. the wonderful combo of mozzarella sticks and mashed potatoes. the last of which i just finished between the latter sentence and this one. i love cfc and it seems that every time i go there i end up making a friend or an enemy of some sort. there will either be fellow drunk college students or some neighborhood locals who are more than happy to let me know i don't belong in their neighborhood and to "go the fuck back where you came from." even though this is a regular occurrence crown fried chicken is really an asset to the neighborhood and as i learned from the website, crownfriedchicken.com, welcomes all types of customers from all walks of life...

elinor carucci came to give a speech at pratt today. she is an interesting photographer who has an eye that could be generally define as straight forward and even "novice." but the tenderness and warmth with which she addresses her subjects brings an intimacy and substantiality to her work. these aspects and her blatant honesty touches the viewer and left me very interested in her life.
